Thursday---One busy day

Even though we had Grandma and Grandpa visiting we decided to go on a fast camping trip to our favorite place, Somerville State Park. Grandma and Grandpa stayed back, had a quiet dinner, drove to Brenham the next morning and went to all the antique stores. When we were done with our camping we met up with them at Must Be Heaven, our beloved sandwich shop.


Our normal routine, piling three bikes on top of the van with Kipp and Kati's help. A bigger vehicle and a trailer would be so nice to have.
We got there late and went straight to bed. The next day we crammed as much fun in as possible.

Kyli's hook got stuck on something at the bottom of the lake, so she walked back to the camping spot to let us know. She got in trouble last time when she left her pole by the lake so this time she brought it with her. It's amazing that she had that much line on her pole.

This is our messy camping spot. We were there such a short time that we never had a chance to put the table clothe on or organize anything.


While on our bike ride a tree branch caught Kipp's handle bars and pulled his bike out from under him launching him into the dirt. Kati was behind him and didn't stop so he then got run over by her bike. He was having a rough ride. We stopped to document the event.




Since we didn't have a picture of the crash Kent did a reenactment.

On our way back we saw a few deer in the brush. They're camouflaged quite well.

Kati wanted a picture of her hair so she could see how messy it was. It was pretty messy.

Hopefully we didn't smell too much like campfire while eating lunch at Must Be Heaven. Everything is homemade and very delicious. The kid's meals come in a cardboard box in the shape of a car or beaver. I think that's half the fun.


The kids where hanging out in from of the sandwich shop with Grandma and Grandpa.

This is what Grandma and Grandpa picked out at the antique shop for there "new" bathroom. We can't wait to see the finished bathroom.

The kids rode with Grandma and Grandpa since their van wasn't full of camping stuff. They stopped by the side of the rode and took pictures in the Blue Bonnets.

We drove straight to horseback riding lessons. We made it with one minute to spare. Kipp and Kyli had lessons since Kati Mae quit this month. This will be Kipp's last month since the community swim team starts up next month.

Kyli wasn't very happy that she had to borrow Kipp's helmet and ride without her boots, but she survived. Barrels are her favorite thing to do.

This is Ms. Maddison the horseback riding instructor. Grandpa took a couple pictures of her. This one is through the iron fence.

Kati Mae kept asking Grandpa to take pictures.After horseback riding Kent, Grandpa and Kipp went straight to the airport to fly to the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) meeting. The meeting was held at an airport community, Sport Flyer's Field. The host sales Legal Eagal (ultralight) plans and kits. The pictures are of some of his ultralight planes.

This is a picture of our plane as it was getting dark. You can see the runway lights on the grass strip behind it. It's a very nice community that would be fun to be a part of.
What a long day. We all ate Blue Bell ice cream and went to bed.

Helping with the Plane

Kent was getting his Mustang II ready to show the Cub Scouts. With a little help from Grandpa, Kipp and Kati Mae he got the outside skin and flap on before they showed up.

Kipp was helping put the outside skin on the plane with cleco's.


Here they're trying to thread the thin wire through the top of the flap to attach it to the center section.
There was something catching, so they pulled it off and fixed the problem.

Kipp and Kati were happy to hold the flap in place while it was attached for the final time.

Halloween

Kent was in Austin this weekend for school so we drove two and a half hours to join him for Trick-or-Treating. I forgot my camera while we were out so I took some pictures in our hotel room.

Kara and Kati Mae wore their dance recital costumes. I was glad to get another use out of them since they were so expensive and only used once.

Kati only had her eyes half opened in every picture I took. I guess it was a bad picture day.
Kyli came up with her costume idea and sewed it all by herself. She's corn on the cob. The print is hard to see, but it really is a corn print material.

This is my favorite costume for Kipp. Being a Whoopie cushion fits his personality so well.

Even though we didn't go to very many homes, the kids still made out with the candy. So many people gave them hand fulls so they wouldn't have left-overs. One couple even went back into their home to get their last two bags and divided them amongst our kids. They were thrilled. Apparently the neighborhood we picked was having a slow night of Trick-or-Treaters. It was really sad. I remember when I was a kid and the streets were so crowded with children.


I'll have to add the picture that Kent and I got from the Trunk-Or-Treat after I scan it in since I forgot to have the kids take pictures of us. Kent's favorite holiday is Halloween so we always dress up. This year we were Woody and Bo Peep from Disney's Toy Story.
